News Bulletin

Every day, something that happened back then will happen here. Each settlement will be allowed to decide how to deal with the issue, which in turn will bring about certain consequences.

How do we know these things happened?

Some Orang Laut appear...

(1)
1466

You are out fishing one day when you see a handful of Orang Laut at the shore. They look wounded, but they bear the seal of the Melakan Sultanate. They would like some food and water, and a place to stay for a while...

"A Melayu Captain".
This Sketch was done by a talented VOC official. It illustrates the warriors that followed the Melakan Sultan, most probably the Orang Laut.

Some of our family members were killed by these Orang Laut Pirates a long time ago when they robbed us of our goods! We must take veangence!

|

Option 1: Kill Them. Take their things and sell it at the markets at the trading port. Burn their ships so that no one finds out.

Some of them were pirates before, I recognize them! They robbed us before, so its only right that we take back what's ours. There must be justice. Others will understand

Option 2: Rob them but spare their lives and let them go.

Help them as they are wounded. It is the right thing to do. Once they have recovered let them go back on their ship. We are good people.

Option 3: Help them recover. When they are better let them go back on their ship.

We can use this opportunity to win the favour of the Melaka Sultanate.

Option 4: Help them recover. When they are ready, send one of us to accompany them back to Melaka with gifts for the Melakan Leader.

THE PORTUGUESE??

You are at the trading port selling some products when you overhear some Orang Laut talking. They mention some big ships have docked at the Melakan port, ships that are 20 times the size of the Orang Lauts' biggest boats. The people that step off those ships are white coloured, and they wear alot of metal on them!

Depiction of the 7th India Armada (Almeida, 1505), from the Livro de Lisuarte de Abreu, c.1565.
(A vast fleet of Portuguese Navy Ships sent to India in 1505, sent by the King.)

Option 1: Send some able-bodied men to the Melakan Sultanate and offer assistance against these Foreign white Devils!
