15th - 19th Century: Colonial Era

 

In 1511, the Melakan Sultanate is destroyed by the Portuguese, forcing the remains of the court to run to Johor, then Riau. The Portuguese was then eclipsed by the Dutch in the 17th Century, who were themselves eclipsed by the British toward the end of the 19th Century.

 

All this while Temasek stood, watching as all these power struggles happened around her.
